Rockford Housing Authority
The Washington Parkview Homes.
Cornerstone was honored to be asked by the city of Rockford, Illinois to
participate in a master-planning project for an especially problematic
housing site. The Rockford Housing Authority selected Cornerstone to
plan and develop a mixed income community with retail and supportive
services at site of an isolated and troubled Section 8 project. This
multiyear, $35 million development will include public housing,
affordable rental housing, single-family homes, and the necessary
services for a
vibrant, sustainable community. |

In addition, The Rockford Housing Authority selected Cornerstone to plan
and submit a 2003 HOPE VI Application for their most troubled public housing
site. Cornerstone initiated the community-based planning process in early
2002 and managed a strong team of local development partners, architects,
and public housing experts. The planning process received overwhelming
support from public housing residents, neighborhood organizations, and local
government. |
